Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

long, cold, rainy, dead legs run this morning! I tried a new route, which gave me a bit of excitement to get out and run. The first 3+ miles were all nice downhill, so I figured I could pick up some speed by the time I started feeling good. However, by mile 2 I was still dragging. Quads and calves were sore and I felt like they just didn't want to move. I considered turning early to make it just 5, but I stuck it out....

Finally about 3.5-4 I got a little relief in in my stride and felt better. It had been sprinkling all along, but nothing horrible...until I turned for the first part of my big uphill home. I was running into driving rain, a head wind and uphill. I think it motivated me to go faster and push harder, because it felt better than the downhill! Remember...going uphill, pick up the pace, running into the wind, pick up the pace. I finally was feeling like a runner, a crazy pregnant one out in the driving rain, but a runner none the less! :)

The rain let up by the time I turned onto the hill of death, but it was still worse than the sprinkle at  first. I felt a lot stronger up that hill than I have in a long time, and when I turned to cut home felt like my uphill miles were probably faster than the downhill ones! It wasn't so, but it's nice to feel that way at the end of seven miles!

AP: 9:31 splits: 8:50, 8:58, 9:17, 9:47, 9:57, 10:15, 9:36 - funny, reverse progression run but I felt the complete opposite!!

Now I'm off to the gym for body sculpting...resistance class, then I'll read on the bike for a while until it's time to head off to the doc's for Running Bear's checkup :)

Oh, and YES! Ogden's a go this Saturday - Thanks Nan for the hookup!!! If anyone knows of one other person selling a 1/2 entry I know someone who'd be willing to take it.

From Calvin on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 11:02:29 from 66.133.117.3

wow, you're running at Ogden this weekend thats awesome. i'm surprised that the race officials would make any last minute accomodations, good for you. hopefully the weather is nicer than this by the weekend.

From LuzyLew on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 13:17:38 from 69.169.167.157

You really are running so strong, I keep having to remind myself that you're pregnant. I'm glad you got hooked up with a number! I should post something on the message board. It would be so nice to ride the bus up!

From RAD on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 14:57:20 from 67.172.229.125

KP, secretly I'd like to jump in under 2 hrs since the last one was over 2, but I also have to run what my body will let me. With the paces I've been putting in I think it's possible....we'll see I guess!

Cal, no accommodations made on the race staff's part - I bought someone's bib who can't run. I'll be Kelly from CO at Ogden :) and YES, I think the forecast looks good so far - but we'll see!

Luz, yes we NEED to get you a number!! I need you to run with me, it won't be 1/2 as fun w/out you running alongside!

From Smooth on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 16:15:17 from 174.23.172.155

That's one awesome 7 miler. I say you are ready to run under 2 at Ogden!

From RAD on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 16:20:21 from 67.172.229.125

Smooth, I'm hoping the downhill will aid my pace enough to keep me under 2 hrs...we'll see. I still get a bit of anxiety about the ITB on these downhill courses. It will be nice to ENJOY the canyon this year though and not run it in horrible pain :)

From Smooth on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 16:26:28 from 174.23.172.155

Ah I remember Ogden was your first marathon and the ITB wasn't happy. I am sure you will be able to enjoy the downhill better this time, your ITB is healthy and you are in tip top shape. Keep the strides short on the downhill. GOOD LUCK! You'll get to the finish before me so cheer as I hobble across.

From RAD on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 16:34:51 from 67.172.229.125

yeah...Ogden canyon = pain in my memory :)

I will be ready and waiting at the finish!!! Can't wait to see you.

You are an animal. Way to charge up those hills in the driving rain and into the wind.

From RivertonPaul on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 17:28:22 from 67.42.27.114

Clever little Semi-bandita, buying someone's entry.

From RAD on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 19:46:49 from 67.172.229.125

Carolyn, it was fun to pretend to be a die hard in the rain today :) If it was raining like that when I started I would've gone back to bed.

Paul, Sometimes I think I should have guilt about buying someone's entry and running for them...other times I think it's okay. In my situation right now, I know I'm not messing up any speedy awards or anything so I don't feel so bad.

From Bec on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 22:28:42 from 76.23.55.210

Great, you are running the half! I can't WAIT to see you! David will be there supporting so you will get to meet him! Nice run and sculpting today. Stay healthy you mother you!

From Nancy on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 22:43:59 from 76.27.19.206

Wow every time I read you blog I am more impressed. You would never guess that you are almost ready to have your baby. I'm sure you'll do great in Ogden. You'll have to tell me your bib number so I can look up the results.

From Brent on Tue, May 11, 2010 at 23:03:25 from 168.178.30.194

Devine Miss M - see you at the half, me and Sylvie are running saturday. Good luck. I have ran the Ogden marathon 4 times, first time for the half. It seems breaking two hours is possible, if too much time is not lost on the uphill, up and over the dam.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

From Michelle on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 10:14:41 from 71.215.114.57

Good luck with the half this weekend. I bet you will get under 2. I hope your dead legs get a little energy back soon.

From RAD on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 13:58:27 from 67.172.229.125

Becca, can't wait to meet David! You'll have to rest up, shower and then come back to cheer me in :) I'll be wearing the same attire as SLC 1/2.

Nancy, the bib # is 8098, some days I have more energy than others!

Brent, I will have to keep an eye out for you at the 1/2! From last year during the marathon I remember the uphill, but I'm hoping since that is all of it little time will be lost compared to the amazing downhill. I'll be wearing the same purple shirt and black running skirt as the SLC 1/2 - keep an eye out above the crowd for the blond pony tail with a white ribbon.

Michelle, I hope it comes back too - I think step class starts my week off with some burnt out legs!
