Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Back at it with the rest of the lazy Americans today :)

60 minutes on the elliptical, broken into 20 minute sessions: intervals, fat burn and foothills (L5).

During the 'breaks' I did my PT stuff, some balance ball stuff (the 1/2 ball that you can stand on), 50 push ups and 100 ball crunches. Keep in mind ALL of that was broken into 3 nearly equal pieces each time.

Felt like it was one of the best workouts I've had in over a month! Oh wait...it probably was :)

Intended to start spin class at the rec center today, but after a horrible night (tummy and sleep) I needed every extra minute of 'trying' to sleep I could get.

Went to the gym and did 30 minutes of good effort on the bike (8 miles total on avg 5 resistance), then did my PT stuff with bosu ball balancing exercises. Then home for a quick shower then off to the docs. First doctor guess at the sex is a girl (HR was about 163), according to the old wives tale faster HR=girl, slower=boy. Ultrasound set for Feb 1st for an official guess :)

Went to boot camp, maybe not the best idea - but I was hoping for more circuit type stuff. A lot of jumping and impact things I shouldn't be doing yet with my hip, so it wasn't as good of a workout as I had hoped (because I had to 'modify' a lot).

Jumped on the elliptical afterward for a 20 min session at L8. According to RW, this level is a good low impact simulation of running. It felt great! Got some nice dripping sweat :) RW says you should do L8-L12, so I may try to bump it up in intensity and time to help start getting my running legs back under me.

Finished off with my bosu ball balance training (help with IT) and PT stuff for hip and ITB, with some good stretching.

Last night and this morning I've had a little more tenderness in my hip, so boot camp wasn't a good idea :(

Yoga this morning and then 30 minutes on my 'simulated run' on the elliptical at L8.

Out of daycare time, so PT stuff had to wait until home. Only did the basics, but did get extra stretching in yoga so I feel okay about being a slacker :)

Not much sleep...brain wouldn't be quiet and I blame not getting my gym time in yesterday!

Found something more boring than the TM...aquajogging. Seriously, I probably could've gone for a good couple hours if I had someone to talk to or a show to watch but in a pool with nothing to look at but the clock 30 minutes was an eternity. It was difficult at the start, but once I found a rhythm and stopped trying to swim and move but just jog it wasn't too bad - just completely mind numbing. I 'sprinted' the last 5 minutes which felt good too. Just wish my ITB wouldn't have screamed at me a bit (I mean...really??? I'm swimming??? Give it up!!). I honestly think the cortizone shots truly messed something up in there.

Then fun splash time with the family, next Sat I'm going to try for 90 minutes - anyone want to join me?? :) Its fun......
