Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Back at the elliptical. 3-20 minute sessions at L9, then I'd break and do my PT stuff, bosu ball balance/strength exercises (some good ones in RW this month!), push-ups (50 total) and ball crunches (150 total). So I ended up with 3 strength sessions and 60 mins cardio for my 90 minutes at the gym. Feel good, but needed to eat afterward.

Love feeling the sweaty goodness :) My hip has been quiet enough I'm thinking if things go well this week I'll start my 'back to walking' program next week which will then lead to my 'back to running' program! I'm really hoping I'm feeling back at it enough to run Riverton 1/2 in March.

Stopped by the library afterward, as I was waiting to pay for some books and movies (GREAT sale!) he said "wow, you must be a runner...you look like a runner". Of course I'm still in gym clothes, but it almost made me cry! I can run...maybe not right now, but in my heart I'm a runner and it was nice to hear it again :)

"There'll be a load of compromising, on the road to my horizon, but I'm gonna be where the lights are shinning on me....." (just a little blast from the past that I was contemplating today as it played on my ipod at the gym).

Spin day, went to bed TOO late to get up for class, so I did my own at the gym. Used my ipod to help set my cadence as I hit different hills and sections of the ride. Broke it up into 2 really good effort 30 min sessions with some resistance, balance and PT stuff in the middle.

First ride was 'peaks' it kept the resistance 4.5-6.0 the whole time except the 4.0 2-3 minute start and 2-3 minute finish. I completed 9 miles and 300 calories in the 30 minutes. Sweat was dripping in my eyes...no towels around when I started, feeling good!

Second ride was a random program that looked good. Nice hills, but some 'downhill' or nearly free spin time too. Bumped the top resistance to 7 since it wouldn't stay high too long. I really used the music on this one to keep my cadence steady as I was going 'uphill'. Completed 9.5 miles and nearly 300 calories for this ride. Good sweat again, but I'd scrounged up a towel so I kept my face dry :)

Finished with a good 10 minute stretching session. Happy to feel the heart pumping and working again!! Makes me want to run....

Went to bootcamp today because unlike last week, she was doing resistance and not kick-boxing stuff. GREAT workout, I will be sore tomorrow.

Finished off with 30 minutes on the elliptical at L8.

Trying to be efficient yesterday I washed my gym jacket...with my new ipod shuffle in the pocket. I'm so mad at myself! Craig seems to have some tricks up his sleeve to get it working again...it's currently taking a bath in a rice bowl.

Sweet yoga day! Then did 30 minutes on the elliptical at L9, stretched and have been running errands all day since.

Elliptical marathon today (not really a marathon, just seemed like as long!). 3-20 minute sessions at L10 with PT, bosu, chin-ups and ball crunches in between. No time to finish with stretching, so I did my best when I got home. Had to race home so I could 'work' - only for 1.5 hours though.

Then I'm off to the pool, simply to play around on a swim/play date. Good times :)

Oh, and I'm stinkin' sore from boot camp on Wednesday...arms and behind mostly.

90 minute aqua-jog with Becca. Time went by SO much quicker having someone there, not that I'd wish injury on anyone - but if you can't run, come pretend with us! It's fun ....

ITB started bugging about 45 minutes in, but when I got out and walked on it all was okay...just a little on going downstairs now. (muttering) stupid thing!!
