Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Fun day skiing nearly perfect weather! Nice and easy - although that is how I like it anyway. Never fell - everyone else did :) Got a few good runs in by myself not having to wait for anyone, THOSE were my favorite runs. I always think skiing is exhausting, but when I'm there I remember how much I love it! I'm ready to go again Thursday.

David (5)went for his first time and did 2 2 hr lessons and no one was in his class either time so he got a private lesson ALL day! Then he still wanted to ski more afterward. For his first time he's doing GREAT! Lauren (9) got a semi-private morning lesson and is doing GREAT on her turns, almost done with the snowplow :)

I seriously don't know how those of you out there do it! When I got home from skiing all day I just wanted to eat a big dinner and lay down. How in the world do you have the energy to then go run 8-10 miles?? I'm SO very impressed!

Hip is still SLIGHTLY tender, but I figure I'd better wait a week of no pain before starting back to walking again :( SO SO bummed!!! I really wanted to run on my birthday (2/15) but it's not looking likely.

I was ready to get to boot camp this morning, but the kids all were sleeping and after a long hard day yesterday I didn't want to wake them. So, I got to the gym too late for class - I was ticked, because it was a GOOD resistance class and not a lot of cardio (jumping etc I shouldn't do). STINK! Well, a day with happy kids is worth it...right?

did 60 min on the elliptical at L8. Good sweat fest, but didn't get my expected 30 min of bike in the middle because Wed is story time at the library and I had to get the kids next door to the library. Still a good work out and the way I feel (tired, sore and a little (tummy) sick today) it's probably for the best.

whine, whine, whine - - -

Disappointment after disappointment lately. Chalk it up to hormones and turning thirty on Monday....

No running for what seems like an eternity now, plus as slowly as the PT wants me to come back I feel like it will be December before I've built up enough mileage to run with anyone again. Missing all my running friends, good times over good sweat - now I dream about running as I spin my wheels on the elliptical. I wanted new running shoes for my birthday, but now - whatever. Not getting anything I want for my birthday (yes I DID tell my husband what I wanted, but it's too hard for him - he says). Told that a 1000 sqft apartment was nicer than my home and I should get a 'nice house' like they have (perception from a mentally handicapped teenager - again hormones I tell you!). Finally just feeling tired and overwhelmed - need a good run with good friends! oh...wait...nevermind....

So back to the dreaded elliptical. Two 45 minute sessions at L8 - had to take daughter to make-up piano lesson from skiing Tuesday in the middle - nice sweat fest. Hopefully, some of these nagging hormones and nasty demons got 'sweated' out as well!! It's a little harder to outrun your demons when you are staying in one place.

Oh, and to top it all off the hip isn't feeling better at all today....maybe by the time I turn 40 it will be healed and I can run again. I think I'll just go eat some ice cream - - - it's got lots of calcium, right????

Took a long time  to get motivated to move this morning...but alas, I did.

60 minutes on the bike - 18 miles at L5 resistance.

30 minutes on the elliptical - 2.5 miles at L9 resistance.

Got home...blender broke *sigh*
