Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

blah, blah, blah - another week, oh and did I mention how much I HATE Sunday! I have to run on Monday to get out all the crap that Sunday piles into my brain!!!

Step class - another good one! Kept the HR up the full hour, but she made it tricky too!

5K on the TM: 1st mile @ 9:40 then a potty stop from drinking all my water during/after step. 2nd and 3rd mile: AP: 9:30, then I kept running on the 8:20mm pace for the last .10 until time ran out.

Can't wait to see the Boston reports coming in!! From what I've heard it's all been good news so far - YAY!!

*if anyone knows where to track to see times please share. I'm technologically challenged and don't know where to go :(

Nice early morning with the BBK's - the wind made it a bit chilly, but beyond that it was beautiful; early, but the blooming plants and trees make it worth it!

The group did speed work, and I tried - but I think my speed work sits around a 9:30 now-a-days :)

AP: 9:34 splits: 9:26 9:24, 9:31, 9:38, 9:50, 9:47, 8:34 (for the last .2)

As you can see, I really didn't ever feel my 'groove' hit today that I normally do after mile 4. I was really surprised to see how slow the last mile was, because I really felt like I was picking it up a bit - hmmm, I think it's lead legs from the 'race' on Saturday. Nice to see the 8:34 even if it was for only just under a 1/4 mile!

Getting kiddos off to school and then I'll go do the body sculpting class and a 30 min bike ride nice and easy to maybe spin some of the 'lead' out of me!!

*class was crazy tough today! Then I did 7.5 miles @ L3 on the recumbent bike*

Rachel and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day!

Didn't want to get up and run before - I was just lazy and wanted to sleep.

Boot camp - mostly kick boxing today, but did a TON of squats: one legged, two legged, and weighted.

Hit the TM - just didn't want to run. Shins hurt, felt heavy (mentally and physically), felt tired (mentally and physically), felt defeated (mentally and physically). So, I turned up the elevation and just walked. 1.5 miles on 10% grade @ 3mph.

For any of you Biggest loser fans I felt like O'neal did on last night's show. Know I need to hit it hard, but would rather just hit something and cry. Now I feel like Koli - will eat 4,000 calories if it will help the situation! (Blaming it all on pregnancy hormones and irrational thoughts).

...I think I'll move to Australia.

Well, the best laid plans....

2AM I woke up chucking my guts about every 15 minutes. I now wonder why I was so 'crazy' yesterday. I still have yet to decide if it's sickness or food poisoning.  Needless to say, it's noon - I'm finally sitting upright - consumed 1/2 cup of liquid for more than 45 minutes - and will be resting for the rest of the day. I'll probably be out of it for a while now, it always takes longer for us pregnant ladies to recover from crud like this.

I'm taking another rest day today. I feel well enough to go walk or bike at the gym, but I think my efforts are better spent repairing a days worth of 'nothing' in my house. That way, the weekend will be less stressful - hopefully.

Wow, what a couple rest days does for my energy level :)

Why is it that I can take a full day to carefully plan out what I'm doing for my Saturday workout, then when the alarm goes off I find some way to change and re-arrange those plans so that  I can sleep in for another 30-60 minutes?

Went to spin class - did 1 mile warm up run on the track beforehand. Spin was seriously AMAZING today! I had a sweat fest and it felt harder than at any point in my race last week or run this week! It was a great mix of intervals, hill climbs, runs and jumps - with little rest.

Came home wanting to run OUTSIDE in the SUN! YAY! After 2 days of couch/house work/rain, I was ready to get out and enjoy it, and boy did my feet and legs respond. I decided to run our stake 5K loop twice, that way I  could drop water at the house and not have to carry it with me. Only downside is that although it is a loop, I SWEAR 70% of the course is all nasty uphill...ugggh. I run it the reverse of the stake race, because that gives me downhill at the beginning and end, the rest is gentle/nasty uphill.

1st 5K - 27:56 felt good, and saw a lot of people outside and a TON of runners. Feeling good, grabbed a drink and I was off for more!

2nd 5K - 28:17 - about 2/3rd of the way through this run (just before starting the last nasty uphill climbs) I decided I had enough time and gusto left in me to do 3 loops. Felt good at the end, but I knew it was slower than the first. Grabbed another drink and told my hubby "just one more!"

3rd 5K - 28:24 - I could tell my energy level was lower than the first two times when I started not liking the uphill so much just after mile 1, not at 2.3 where I had before :) Still felt good and pushed through the last few, still passing some of the same people still working in their yards. Finished the last downhill strong, glancing at the garmin it was about 7:20 as I hit the last .10 of the 5K.

I honestly felt today that  running this loop 3 times was a lot shorter than some of the 9-10 mile runs I've done before. I felt good and strong, SO much better than the last couple days. I guess that's what you get with 2 good rest days...well, I don't know if Thursday can be counted as a rest day, I felt worse than at any point today!

AP: 9:05 splits: 8:45, 9:14, 9:08, 8:42, 9:28, 9:17, 8:40, 9:29, 9:27, 7:53 - for the last .30: yee-haw!! Look at me, I can RUN!! :) )
