Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

RHPC'S ROCK!!!

What a fun race! I loved having so many fun women around and running a great course. I've been looking forward to this event for a few months now and it totally lived up to my expectations. PLUS I got the best prize ever (thanks Michelle!). I started out well and chatted with Luz, but when she needed to turn around I was all alone...40 runners and I was alone :( So, I knew Kelli, Kristal, Michelle and Julie were maybe 30-60 seconds ahead of me. I resolved to catch them (NOT easy, those ladies are speedy and I thought I'd take it easy today!). I did maybe 50M intervals trying to just push the pace maybe 10 sec/mile to catch them in 4-5 miles. At the turn around I knew I only needed another couple to catch them, so I kept pushing and caught Michelle after crossing the road then hung with her for a minute then made the last push to catch Kelli and Kristal. I was so happy to have really done it - I'm glad they were taking it easy! I hung with them until about mile 10, then I saw a drinking fountain and decided to grab a quick drink, undoing all my catch up work. I was able to push and catch Michelle, but the extra 30 feet to get Kelli again wasn't in me...or I wasn't mentally strong enough to do it. Anyway, I had a wonderful time chatting and trying to keep pace with Michelle and one of the few men that braved the pink crowd. At the park we took a wrong turn and went the shorter way around, so we ended .15 short of a full half, but I guess many people had, so it wasn't a big deal. I ran out the extra .05 to an even 13, but left the .1 for another day :)

I had such an amazing time with so many amazing women and got to meet SO many more that are simply inspiring! This is what I love about running, the people and the fun! Running alone would be such a drag, I'm grateful for all the friends I've made through this wonderful sport and blog!!! And Marion, You are the WOMAN!!!

I totally would have loved to gone further with you, but I just knew I was holding you back (that plus, well, there were the bathrooms). But more than that, I wasn't sure how far I could go today. I ended up doing 10, and I wouldn't have done so well if we hadn't of started out togehter. Today was the best run I've had in a month. Sorry I wasn't in the best shape to be better company. It's been a lonely little road to try and get back to being good running company! YOu did AMAZING. I can't believe you caught up with the group! You guys sure are some speedy chicas! So nice to see you, you are an amazing runner.

Pink rules. I had some interesting conversations with a lady on a bike wondering about being 'pinked'. Glad you had a good run today.

It was also so great to hang with you. You scared me when you came running up behind me. I didn't expect you so quickly. You are an awesome runner and if you can just get through these nagging injuries, you will ROCK!

From Leandra on Sat, Jul 11, 2009 at 19:05:24 from 76.27.81.221

I knew you were fast, and today I got to see it in person! Congrats! So fun to meet you!

Great job Rachel. I'm glad they figured out your problem so now you can start feeling better. Where was this Pink Lady run?

From Smooth on Sat, Jul 11, 2009 at 22:38:22 from 71.36.67.77

GOOD JOB Rachel! It was so good to see you today. Those fishnet gloves make your arms look as sexy as your legs. WAY TO GO catching the other chickas.

You are a doll RAD! I wish I could have been there to try and stay a few miles with you. How did you like the smell of bacon right by the trail? Running up and down that canyon, you always get the nauseous smell of breakfast in the early morning. It would have been amazing seeing 20+ women and men running down that trail in PINK!

From RAD on Sun, Jul 12, 2009 at 01:46:44 from 67.166.99.8

Luz, you were great company! I'm so happy I got some miles in with you!

Paul and Carolyn, Thanks! We'll see you both next year?

Maurine, I could see the questions on some faces - I just smiled :)

Thanks Kelli, I had a good time and was proud of myself for having the mental strength to keep pushing and catch you Speed demons!!!

Julie, you SO had me fooled! I completely thought you were a head of everyone.

Michelle, you were HARD to catch and sorry about the scare - I thought you'd recognize the hard breather :)

Thanks Leandra! However, don't let me fool you...I'm not really a runner, I just play one on TV :)

Merri, I know you'll be there next year, service project or not!!!

Michelle, Those gloves will be a sacred item in my closet for quite some time!! I'm glad I took the 'bite' and chose your prize!!! It WAS the best!

Nancy, Thanks and the run was down in Provo, Marion posted it on the discussion forum. Next year you'll have to come with your daughters - it is GREAT fun!!!

Smooth, I laughed too hard at your comment! I really am loving those gloves :)

Bec, yes the bacon got me, but even more so was the campfire smoke 'hello! Trying to breathe here!' the bacon just gave a good stomach churn!! All the pink runners were fun to watch and I LOVED every minute of it! Next year I KNOW you'll be there :)

Devine the hunter - chasing down those runners, very good mind and body race conditioning.
